About the Role

Gigafest Consulting is seeking a knowledgeable Business Analyst / Product Owner for a major public sector transit agency based in Toronto, Ontario. This contract role spans 6 months beginning August 2026 and requires presence onsite three days per week. The position is critical in advancing operational excellence and improving the commuter experience via effective IT software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze business processes and systems specifically related to transit operations in depth.
  • Collect, assess, and document detailed business requirements and functional specifications.
  • Identify gaps in current operations and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as the main interface between business stakeholders and technical development teams, effectively managing product backlogs.
  • Collaborate with development and quality assurance teams throughout the Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Guide stakeholders in decision-making and oversee user acceptance testing phases.
  • Monitor product performance and seek opportunities for continual enhancement.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize processes within Bus Operations specifically.

Required Qualifications

  • Five to seven years or more of experience in Business Analysis and/or Product Ownership roles.
  • Direct professional experience working within a Transit Agency environment.
  • Demonstrable history of involvement in Public Sector projects.
  • Strong understanding of Bus Operations and transit system functionalities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equal practical work experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of Agile methodologies and related tools.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CBAP, CSPO, or equivalents highly regarded.
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Awareness of UX/UI design principles.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and compliance requirements.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this contract position ranges between 64 and 85 Canadian dollars.

Other Information

The role requires a hybrid working arrangement with three days per week onsite in Toronto. Candidates must be prepared to start in August 2026 and submit resumes highlighting relevant transit or public sector experience.
