Role Overview

The Business Analyst position in the Operations Finance Team based in Sydney offers a permanent, onsite opportunity to contribute end-to-end financial operations support across Supermarkets and Metro Operations. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the analyst will work closely with senior leadership and other stakeholders to convert complex financial datasets into insightful, actionable guidance to influence strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior leaders, Finance Managers, and store operations, simplifying complex data into financial models and narratives that guide strategic choices.
• Lead the Annual Operating Plan and monthly forecasting for operational cost centers, ensuring alignment with budgets and the strategic plan.
• Provide detailed cost analysis and variance tracking to identify and mitigate risks and seize opportunities in store expenses and operational costs.
• Support month-end reporting with executive-ready commentary focused on controllable costs.
• Drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes, enhancing reporting, and integrating AI and automation to focus on high-value insights.
• Engage regularly with store operations to align financial reporting with real-world activities, promoting cost savings and internal control improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, with a CA/CPA certification or actively pursuing the qualification.
• Proficient in handling large datasets and building financial models, experienced with SAP, Google Cloud Platform, or generative AI tools to enhance efficiencies.
• Strong commercial understanding with the ability to pinpoint cost drivers and identify business improvement areas.
• Capable of managing multiple tasks in an agile setting under tight deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, comfortable as a trusted business advisor and stakeholder manager.
• Energetic and values-driven with high integrity and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
• Possesses a strong ownership mindset, curiosity, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a focus on optimizing processes and team performance.
