Role Overview

This contract Business Analyst position is based in California and focuses on improving and reviewing project and enhancement requests across a mix of first-party and third-party applications used in HR technology and the employee lifecycle. The role is highly collaborative and requires close work with business stakeholders to shape problem statements, define requirements, establish priorities, and convert business needs into clear technical inputs for engineering teams.

What You Will Do

You will analyze user needs connected to HR systems and employee lifecycle workflows, coordinate user acceptance testing, share progress updates, and gather follow-up details when needed. The role also involves keeping multiple requests moving across HR technology, People Operations, and engineering groups while supporting long-term initiatives such as functional and business requirements documentation, internal testing, UAT planning, and hypercare for HR technology rollouts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate clearly and on time about request status, blockers, and any missing information needed to process enhancement requests across the HR technology environment, including HRIS, HCM, and employee lifecycle tools.
  • Work with HR business partners, People Operations teams, and requestors to clarify the business problem, expected outcomes, and priority of submitted employee lifecycle requests.
  • Review the business case and impact details provided by requestors and evaluate them using the enhancement impact scoring approach for HR technology work.
  • Coordinate requirements and partner with HR stakeholders, People Operations, engineering teams, and other cross-functional groups to answer open questions from both business and technical sides.
  • Quickly get up to speed on internal HR applications such as Workday, Salesforce, DocuSign/SpringCM, and other employee lifecycle systems by researching documentation, consulting subject matter experts, and following integration patterns.
  • Apply strong solution design and governance thinking when refining and prioritizing requirements within HR compliance and policy boundaries.
  • Learn the end-to-end enhancement request and project workflows, then help improve them for HR technology and employee lifecycle initiatives.
  • Manage escalations from HR stakeholders with empathy while balancing business urgency, organizational priorities, and engineering capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Salesforce for HR system integration and case management is a plus, along with familiarity with Salesforce Service Cloud for employee support processes. Exposure to Salesforce AI features such as Agentforce and Einstein, as well as Salesforce-Workday integrations and data synchronization, will be beneficial. Knowledge of AI-driven tools, conversational AI, workflow automation, and process optimization within HR technology is also preferred. Additional advantages include experience with DocuSign/SpringCM, strong multitasking and prioritization skills, change control board exposure, project management in HR system implementations, and experience working with global HR operations and multi-entity setups.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources Information Systems, or a related technical discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience may also be considered. The role calls for at least 5 years of experience in HR systems, business analysis, or HR technology, along with a proven record of contributing to successful HR technology implementations and process improvements.

Compensation and Work Conditions

The hourly pay rate for this role is between $82.00 and $85.00 per hour. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime at 1.5 times the base hourly rate for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek, or as otherwise required by applicable state or local law. Final compensation within the stated range depends on relevant skills, education, and experience.
