Job description
Role overview
Pearson is hiring examiners for the new AAQ BTEC Nationals Level 3 qualification. This is a contract-based role that can be carried out from home, allowing it to fit around other full-time commitments.
What the role involves
The examiner will assess learner responses against a set mark scheme while following the required code of practice and examination procedures. Most marking will be completed online through ePEN. Strong subject expertise is needed to interpret and apply the mark scheme correctly, and each examiner will be assigned a specific batch of scripts.
Key duties
- Apply the mark scheme carefully and consistently so grading standards remain uniform.
- Send required samples to the Team Leader at the specified points.
- Work to the marking schedule and meet all agreed deadlines.
- Complete the required administrative tasks in line with instructions.
Required background
To be eligible, candidates must either have delivered BTEC in a relevant subject at this level, or hold a teaching qualification along with GCE, iAL, or Applied GCE teaching experience in the same discipline. Teaching or BTEC delivery experience must be at least one full year and must have been gained within the last eight years.
Available subject areas
Opportunities are available across several AAQ BTEC Nationals specialisms, including Construction, Engineering, Early Childhood Development, Medical Science, Applied Science, Computing, Information Technology, and Health and Social Care. Units for marking include topics such as construction principles and technology, engineering principles and applications, children’s development and safeguarding, human physiology and pathology, health issues and scientific reporting, biology, chemistry, physics, programming fundamentals, network security and encryption, IT systems, cyber security and incident management, human lifespan and development, and human biology and health.
