Job description

About the Role

Pro Athlete is looking for a seasoned and forward-thinking Brand Manager/Director/Creative Leader to set the strategic direction for its brand portfolio. This includes private-label lines, exclusive products, loyalty program branding, and the broader positioning of the elements that make the company distinct. The role is centered on brand strategy rather than visual design, with responsibility for keeping every brand expression consistent, aligned to business goals, and meaningful to the intended audience.

In this position, you will work closely with senior leaders, marketing, product development, and creative teams to build a unified brand experience. You will guide brand positioning, oversee creative execution at a strategic level, manage customer perception, and help shape compelling stories that carry across all channels.

Who Pro Athlete Is

Pro Athlete, Inc. is an eCommerce business focused on delivering exceptional customer and employee experiences. The company sells sporting goods and apparel through online brands such as JustBats, JustGloves, JustPaddles, Field General, and its private-label offerings. The culture is described as high-energy, team-oriented, and fun.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead the overall brand strategy and vision for every brand in the portfolio, including private-label and retail brands.
  • Define, maintain, and enforce brand standards and guidelines while steering each brand’s direction.
  • Keep creative work aligned with customer insights and market trends.
  • Collaborate with the in-house marketing team to refine customer personas and clarify who the brand is speaking to and what they want.
  • Work with senior leadership so brand plans support company objectives and connect with target audiences.
  • Direct creative contributors such as designers, photographers, videographers, copywriters, social talent, and outside agencies by giving clear direction and feedback.
  • Review and help approve customer-facing materials so brand consistency is maintained across email, social media, web, video, print, packaging, and advertising.
  • Track and manage how each brand is represented visually and tonally across every channel.
  • Partner with product development on high-level concepting and product design to keep the brand and product line cohesive.
  • Act as the final authority on brand voice and ensure content follows the approved brand story.
  • Own all customer-visible creative and brand-related touchpoints.
  • Help shape each brand’s story, identify its audience, and make sure future creative work matches that narrative.
  • Be comfortable handling a wide range of creative responsibilities as needed.
  • Take on additional duties as reasonably assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Art, Photography, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of brand management experience, ideally in a leadership capacity.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in eCommerce, private label, and/or retail is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience working with photographers, videographers, graphic designers, and stylists.
  • Packaging design experience is helpful but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
  • Understanding of lifestyle apparel, sporting goods, and the link between sports and product/customer preferences.
  • Shopify experience is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of baseball and pickleball is preferred.
  • Must strongly align with the company’s core values.
  • Should be self-driven, resourceful, proactive, and able to carry work through to completion.
  • Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and adaptability are important, as the business changes frequently.
