The position requires meticulous documentation of transfusion complications, including their evaluation, identification, and reporting.

Daily, weekly, and monthly quality control are conducted for reagents and blood components using tubes, gel cards, DayMate S reagents, and blood products.

Maintenance routines involve cleaning and decontamination of machines and instruments, as well as upkeep of Nucleic Acid Amplification Technique (NAT) machines with associated quality controls. The technologist verifies blood donor screening results, manages deferrals, and handles system tasks like blood component defragmentation and ISBT labeling. Critical test result values are communicated in accordance with policy guidelines.

Additional Duties and Compliance

Occurrence variance reporting (OVR) is documented either electronically or manually. Educating patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and prophylactic measures forms part of the job scope.
