Job description
About the Role
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is seeking motivated individuals fluent in both English and French to join the Winnipeg Tax Centre team. These term positions (SP-003 and SP-004) require full-time onsite work primarily at 66 Stapon Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Applicants must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate, as remote work is not an option. This is a bilingual imperative staffing process, prioritizing candidates with strong skills in both official languages.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage regularly with taxpayers over the phone to provide accurate information and clear guidance.
- Utilize multiple computer systems and software, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel, with proficiency to fulfill job duties effectively.
- Review and assess pre-filled forms and documentation to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations.
- Identify potential issues proactively, escalate complex cases appropriately, and conduct thorough research using internal and external resources.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of a secondary school diploma is mandatory.
- For some SP-004 roles, additional education such as courses or credentials from recognized institutions or professional accounting bodies (CPA introductory courses) is required.
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents living in Canada or abroad, and veterans are eligible to apply, with priority given to veterans, followed by citizens and permanent residents.
- Proficiency in both English and French is required, with official language evaluations verifying reading, writing, and oral skills at intermediate to advanced levels depending on the position.
- No prior experience is necessary to apply.
- Applicants must provide clear electronic copies of educational credentials and valid language evaluation results when available.
Additional Important Information
- CRA promotes diversity, inclusiveness, and equal employment opportunity especially for Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, and women.
- Accommodation during assessments can be requested for candidates with limitations.
- Applicants must ensure their candidate profiles are accurate, including mailing address and language preferences.
- Those previously employed by CRA under problematic separations will be reviewed case-by-case for eligibility.
- Selections made through this process are for temporary employment, with potential for permanent appointments if conditions change.
- Applicants are responsible for costs related to the staffing process and relocations, except for eligible Canadian Armed Forces members who may have different arrangements.
Assessment and Selection Process
- Assessments, including language tests and specific staffing requirements like the Taxation Centre Clerical Test, interpersonal skills, and communication abilities, will occur in scheduled waves beginning in September 2026.
- Candidates may be added to a pool for future vacancies rather than a single specific job.
- Applicants must notify the staffing board promptly about absence or changes to personal information.
Workplace and On-site Requirements
The CRA requires employees to work on-site, with workplace arrangements subject to operational needs and potential accommodations based on individual circumstances.
Education Verification
Foreign education credentials must be assessed for Canadian equivalency. Failure to submit proper documentation may lead to disqualification.
