Job description

Role overview

Join the Clients & Markets team in a role centered on supporting clients and strengthening business development outcomes. In this position, you will partner with Client Leaders, Market Leaders, technical experts, and marketing/business development colleagues across New Zealand and Australia to help shape and deliver effective bids and pursuits.

The work involves coordinating bid submissions, helping refine pursuit strategy, and developing clear, persuasive, client-focused content. Your contribution will help ensure opportunities are properly assessed, managed well, and aligned with client expectations. This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity based in Auckland, Tauranga, or Wellington, with support provided across multiple regions.

About the team and organisation

The Clients & Markets group sits at the centre of the business and supports client engagement through leadership, advice, and practical business development support. The wider organisation is a large, independent advisory, design, and engineering consultancy with a strong regional and international footprint, a long history, and a focus on helping clients solve complex problems and create better outcomes.

The workplace values partnership, tenacity, enjoyment, and care, and encourages people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to contribute to a collaborative and inclusive culture.

What you will do

You will be responsible for helping drive pursuit activity from early opportunity assessment through to submission, follow-up, and post-bid learning. The role requires close coordination with a broad range of stakeholders to produce strong bid materials and support decision-making throughout the bidding lifecycle.

Key duties

  • Coordinate and support high-quality bid and pursuit submissions.
  • Help assess and qualify opportunities, including bid/no-bid discussions.
  • Contribute to bid strategy, win themes, and key messaging tailored to client needs.
  • Work with technical specialists and business leaders to gather content and inputs.
  • Manage timelines, inputs, and competing priorities so submissions are delivered on schedule.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, consistency, and process compliance.
  • Track pipeline activity, performance trends, and win/loss insights.
  • Identify risks or issues early and escalate them appropriately.
  • Support workshops, planning sessions, and other collaborative bid activities as required.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement in pursuit practices.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated, organised, and detail-focused professional who can work confidently across teams and manage bid activity with a proactive mindset. You should be comfortable handling the full bid lifecycle and building strong relationships with stakeholders to produce client-centric outcomes.

Experience in professional services, or in the engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors, will be an advantage.

Benefits and workplace support

  • Structured professional development and training programmes.
  • Shareholding opportunities.
  • A supportive, caring environment where you can be yourself at work.
  • Flexible working options to help balance personal and family commitments.
  • Learning opportunities with specialists and technical experts across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Wellbeing leave and volunteer leave.
  • Enhanced parental leave of up to 22 weeks fully paid after birth or placement of a child, available to all genders.
  • Discounted insurance options, including health, life, and income protection.

Additional information

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months. The role is based in Auckland, Tauranga, or Wellington and supports work across multiple geographies.

The organisation emphasises diversity and inclusion and welcomes creative people of all genders, ethnicities, identities, perspectives, and experiences.

About the company

The company is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s largest independent advisory, design, and engineering consultancies. It has grown over more than a century into a client-focused organisation with thousands of employees across offices worldwide and experience delivering projects in many countries.

Its purpose is to make everyday better by combining creativity, expertise, and collaboration to help clients shape communities, improve assets, and streamline operations.
