About the Role

Ability Action Australia is expanding its team and seeks a passionate Behaviour Support Practitioner dedicated to positively influencing the lives of individuals with disabilities. This role involves working closely with NDIS participants, their families, and carers to manage complex behaviours and enhance overall quality of life through evidence-based approaches.

Key Duties

  • Collaborate with NDIS participants and their support networks to manage challenging behaviours and promote skill development.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify behavioural triggers and risks and develop strategies to improve behavioural outcomes.
  • Create detailed Behaviour Support Plans and guide families and carers in their consistent application.
  • Maintain and monitor a portfolio of clients, adjusting support plans as necessary.
  • Set meaningful objectives and apply positive behaviour support frameworks aimed at reducing restrictive practices in both home and community settings.
  • Ensure that individual plans align with participants’ goals, interests, and strengths, enhancing their life experiences.
  • Empower families, carers, and friends by enhancing their knowledge and capacity to support participants effectively.
  • Serve as an advocate and exemplify best practices in behaviour support.
  • Engage collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care.
