Job description
About the Organisation
Ability Action Australia is a nationwide therapy provider supporting NDIS participants across the 0–65 age range. The organisation works with children, teenagers and adults to help them build independence, confidence, progress and better day-to-day outcomes.
The team describes its mission as delivering strong therapy support in the community and helping people live more fully. It aims to be recognised as a leading provider in Australia.
Graduate Program Overview
This graduate opportunity is designed for Occupational Therapy students graduating in 2026 and starting their careers in 2027. The program is structured to help new therapists build a strong foundation, gain confidence and develop both clinical and professional capabilities.
Graduates are supported through regular supervision, mentoring and practical guidance so they can move from feeling unsure to feeling capable in their role.
Role Purpose
As a Graduate Occupational Therapist, you will work with participants in community and clinic settings, supporting them to achieve meaningful goals and improve everyday functioning. The role combines clinical practice with report writing, assessments and collaborative therapy delivery.
What You Will Do
- Provide occupational therapy support to participants in community and clinic environments.
- Carry out assessments and prepare written reports.
- Deliver therapy interventions aligned to participant goals.
- Work alongside participants and their carers or support network to advocate for needs and outcomes.
What the Program Offers
The graduate program comes with a guaranteed annual salary of $86,400 including superannuation, plus kilometre-based travel reimbursement. You will also receive a $1,500 annual professional development allowance.
Additional support includes performance-based incentives, a laptop, smartphone and clinical toolkit, professional indemnity insurance, and access to salary packaging options such as novated leasing and the option to purchase extra leave.
The workplace also offers flexibility to work from the office, home or another suitable location such as a café, along with weekly supervision, mentoring and a dedicated buddy system.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant is a soon-to-be qualified Occupational Therapist who is either already registered with AHPRA or eligible for registration. You should be curious, compassionate and open to learning, while also being comfortable working in a supportive and flexible environment.
Applicants should be motivated to make a positive difference in people’s lives and ready to develop into a clinically confident therapist. A sense of humour and appreciation for OT-related wordplay is welcome.
Additional Information
Ability Action Australia states that people from all backgrounds are welcome. The organisation has a team of more than 3,500 people across Australia and values different life experiences, skills and perspectives.
The employer is an equal opportunity workplace and encourages applications from people with disability, including those with mental health conditions, as well as candidates from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, the LGBTQI community, veterans, carers and Indigenous Australians. Recruitment adjustments can be arranged for accessibility needs.
