The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional in public health, behavioral health, prevention, or substance use who can contribute to training content creation, review learning materials, and lead or co-lead sessions with strong subject matter credibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help create and improve training content such as slide decks, handouts, and related resources.

  • Deliver or co-deliver virtual and/or on-site training sessions for varied audience groups.
  • Bring subject matter expertise in substance use disorder, naloxone, overdose prevention, harm reduction, recovery support, and behavioral health education.
  • Contribute to training design for community, provider, and prevention audiences, tailoring the approach when needed.
  • Support post-training follow-up, including feedback analysis, summary documentation, and tracking next steps.
  • Work with Syra Health team members to ensure materials and activities stay aligned with Sedgwick County priorities, OD2A objectives, and the remaining project schedule.
  • Take on additional duties as directed by the project lead.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Working knowledge of harm reduction, overdose prevention, community prevention approaches, and navigation of treatment or support resources.
  • Strong presentation and professional communication abilities, with the capacity to connect effectively with different audience types.
  • Ability to work on your own with minimal onboarding time.
  • Availability for short-term, project-based support through August 2026.

Core Competencies

  • Clear communication with community partners, providers, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to build trustworthy and supportive connections with participants from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Collaborative mindset focused on achieving shared project outcomes.
  • Comfort handling sensitive topics related to substance use, behavioral health, and recovery support.
  • Proactive habits for keeping training resources organized and high quality.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing professional growth in behavioral health.

Working Conditions

  • Training sessions may be delivered in virtual or in-person formats depending on audience needs.
  • Daily interaction with public health agencies, behavioral health organizations, prevention coalitions, and community partners is expected.
  • Schedules and participant needs may change unexpectedly, so flexibility is important.
