Job description
Role overview
Boots Ireland is looking for a Beauty Specialist to join its Galway store and play a key role in the premium beauty area. This position is more than a standard retail job: it focuses on guiding shoppers toward the right skincare, makeup, and haircare products through knowledgeable, honest recommendations and friendly service that helps drive sales.
What the role involves
- Report to the Assistant Manager and support customers across a range of premium and luxury beauty brands.
- Offer clear, impartial product advice so customers leave with a better in-store experience.
- Work in a sales-focused environment with targets to achieve, while supporting a team-based approach rather than individual sales commission.
- Receive an annual product allowance of up to £1000 to personally try and recommend products.
- Use strong customer-facing and communication skills to engage with many different shoppers throughout the day.
- Keep the beauty hall and makeup counters looking professional by maintaining stock, cleanliness, and tidiness of testers and counters.
- Take part in hands-on brand training in store and ongoing learning through an online platform to build product knowledge.
- Attend virtual and in-person conferences designed to deepen beauty expertise.
- May also contribute to social media content, store events, and marketing campaigns.
What you need
- Strong enthusiasm for makeup, skincare, and haircare.
- A welcoming, easy-to-approach style and confidence in starting conversations with customers.
- Motivation to reach and exceed sales goals.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to understand customer needs.
- A proactive attitude toward learning new products, techniques, and services.
- Previous experience in beauty retail, sales, or target-based roles would be an advantage.
- An interest in creative or social media content would also be beneficial.
Career growth
There are clear opportunities to build a long-term career with Boots, including progression into Senior Beauty Specialist or Beauty Assistant Manager roles, moving into store leadership as a Store Manager, or transitioning into a Support Office position.
Benefits
- Quarterly product allowance worth up to €1000 per year, depending on weekly hours worked.
- Employee discounts.
- Continuous training from beauty brands and in-house experts.
- Pension membership through PRSA.
- Discretionary annual bonus.
- Partial paid maternity leave.
- Flexible benefits scheme.
- Access to free 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health as part of the Employee Assistance Programme.
