Job description
The Role
At Soho House, the barback is a key support person who helps keep bar service running smoothly and efficiently. Working side by side with the bar team, you will make sure bartenders are fully equipped to provide quick, high-quality service to members and guests.
Your core focus is to support the bar crew and help create an excellent member experience. You will also carry drinks from the bar to members’ tables and act as a link between the bar and the floor.

Key Responsibilities
- Move drinks promptly from the bar to the correct area of the restaurant and deliver them to members.
- Keep the workspace clean, tidy, and presentation-ready at all times.
- Handle responsibility for an assigned service section.
- Build positive relationships with members to provide a more personalised service.
- Polish glassware so it is ready for use during service.
- Support bartenders by replenishing ingredients, carrying drinks, and collecting supplies from storage or the cellar.
- Carry out opening and closing routines, including setting up and clearing down stations.
- Use and store service equipment carefully and correctly.
- Maintain a clean and well-organised working environment.
- Attend regular meetings with front-of-house and back-of-house teams to stay updated on menu changes, specials, and daily tastings.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Working knowledge of bar operations, hygiene practices, and stock rotation.
- A welcoming, approachable manner with a strong passion for customer service and respect for both colleagues and guests.
- Ability to meet the competency standards set out in the training schedule and Club School.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays when required.
- Capability to follow instructions, work well in a team, and also perform independently.
Additional Information
The pay rate for this position in the UK is £14.50 per hour. Rates may differ in other locations depending on local market conditions.
This role is suited to people who can contribute to a premium hospitality environment and are keen to develop their technical and supervisory skills through the company’s training support.
