Job description

Role overview

This is a senior operations leadership position supporting a newly established regulated bank in the United States. The role is responsible for designing, running, and continuously strengthening the operational foundation that supports banking and payments activity.

You will help ensure that day-to-day operations are secure, compliant, and efficient while working closely with teams across product, engineering, risk, compliance, treasury, accounting, legal, customer support, and external banking partners. A major part of the job is building core processes from the ground up in a de novo banking environment.

The position is well suited to someone who has succeeded in high-speed fintech or banking settings and who combines strong analytical ability with hands-on operational leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct daily banking and payment workflows, including ACH, wires, RTP, card settlement, funding movement, and customer transaction processing, while handling exceptions and supporting new banking integrations.
  • Own servicing and collections operations so that execution meets regulatory obligations, customer experience expectations, service-level commitments, and operational performance targets.
  • Improve delinquency handling and recovery practices to support better portfolio outcomes.
  • Manage external providers such as banking partners, payment processors, servicing vendors, and collections agencies, with clear oversight, performance tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Build and maintain reconciliation processes, operational controls, and management reporting dashboards that improve accuracy, completeness, and visibility across financial and payment operations.
  • Support compliance with applicable regulations and internal risk controls, including audits, regulatory examinations, and control testing.
  • Identify automation and process-improvement opportunities to increase scalability and efficiency.
  • Work as a central connector across internal teams including risk, compliance, legal, treasury, accounting, and customer support.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Between 3 and 7 years of experience in banking operations, payments, treasury, fintech operations, or a similar financial services function.
  • Solid understanding of payment rails and operational processes such as ACH, wire transfers, settlement, reconciliation, and cash management.
  • Prior experience working with banks, financial institutions, and third-party vendors in regulated settings.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and use reporting tools and operational dashboards.
  • Working knowledge of operational risk, compliance structures, and financial controls; familiarity with SOX concepts is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, and problem-solving skills, along with strong attention to detail in a fast-moving environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay package with equity potential.
  • Flexible working setup with hybrid and remote options.
  • The chance to help create and scale a new regulated banking institution from the beginning.
  • Exposure to high-impact innovation in fintech and payments.
  • A collaborative environment with strong visibility to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Substantial career growth opportunities within a fast-expanding financial technology space.
