Band 5 Physiotherapist

Role Overview

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a qualified Physiotherapist to join the Christchurch and Bournemouth Intermediate Care Team (CBIC) as a Static Band 5 Physiotherapist. The post is based in Bournemouth and is aimed at someone who is energetic, committed, and ready to contribute to community-based care.

The role is described as 37.5 hours per week, and it requires working on weekends and public holidays. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available for this vacancy.

Key Duties

You will work with patients, carers, and professionals across health, social care, and community services to support sound treatment decisions and effective discharge planning. The role involves building respectful professional relationships that take into account each patient’s views, independence, culture, and any communication or access challenges.

You will also be expected to discuss sensitive or difficult information with patients and families, including rehabilitation outcomes and issues related to discharge or placement in the community. Regular attendance and contribution at ward rounds, board rounds, team meetings, MDT discussions, and case conferences will be part of the post.

In addition, you will teach relatives and carers practical rehabilitation and manual handling techniques before discharge so that care can continue safely at home or in the community. Referral and liaison work with the Dorset Integrated Health and Care System, as well as voluntary and statutory community services, is also required.

Accurate, complete, and timely record keeping is essential, with all Physiotherapy interventions and important events documented in line with Trust and departmental procedures.
