Position Overview

As a Baker's Helper, you will be a vital member of the bakery team, assisting skilled bakers in producing and presenting fresh, artisan-quality baked goods including breads, pastries, cookies, and muffins. This role combines creativity with hands-on baking and customer interaction, creating a welcoming bakery environment customers seek.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
• Provide polite and friendly greetings to customers.
• Deliver excellent customer service consistent with Safeway’s customer programs.
• Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, commercial ovens, and donut fryers safely and effectively.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all bakery tools and equipment.
• Prepare daily production of baked items as scheduled.
• Manage order documentation and ensure accurate recording.
• Receive deliveries and properly rotate baked products to maintain freshness.
• Stock and fill bakery display cases to maintain appealing presentation.

Skills and Qualifications

• Previous baking experience is an asset but not mandatory.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly motivated, cooperative, and team-oriented mindset.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong customer service capabilities.
• Commitment to working safely and responsibly.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and Sundays.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift items up to 20 lbs and occasionally between 20-50 lbs.
• Regularly perform hand coordination tasks such as bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
• Constant standing, walking, gripping, and reaching throughout shifts.
