Badanami Student Success Officer (Indigenous Identified Role)

Position Overview

The International Centre for Neuromorphic Systems is recruiting two full-time, ongoing Badanami Student Success Officers to be based at Western Sydney University's Parramatta South and Campbelltown campuses. This uniquely Indigenous-identified role supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students' academic journeys by delivering culturally responsive services aimed at enhancing retention, success, and graduation rates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support, mentoring, and pastoral care to Indigenous students to improve their university experience and academic success.
• Collaborate with other Badanami Centres, academic faculties, and support units to coordinate accessible and timely student services and initiatives that boost student engagement and retention.
• Monitor service effectiveness by analyzing student feedback and data; identify trends and propose improvements.
• Build and maintain partnerships within the University and external organizations to enhance opportunities and pathways for Indigenous students.
• Ensure the Badanami Centres offer welcoming, culturally safe spaces promoting student belonging and success.
• Comply with University policies, relevant legislative requirements, and best practices in Indigenous student support.

Candidate Requirements

• Must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, with identity confirmation per University guidelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, coupled with substantial experience in program planning and delivery, preferably related to Indigenous education and higher education environments.
• Proven experience providing Indigenous student support services, proactively addressing their needs.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze service trends, overcome systemic barriers, and implement process improvements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage across cultures and maintain cooperative relationships.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Mandatory current NSW Employee Working with Children Clearance and a valid Driver’s License.

Employment Details and Benefits

• Salary range at HEW Level 6: $97,693 to $104,713 per annum plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.
• Positions located at Parramatta South and Campbelltown campuses; Campbelltown position also requires one day per week on Liverpool campus.
