Backup and Recovery (BUR) Administrator

Position Overview

Maximus is searching for an experienced Backup and Recovery Administrator to support critical federal client systems that protect our Homeland. This role involves comprehensive management of enterprise backup solutions ensuring business continuity for Unix/Linux, Windows servers, databases, and virtual machines. This full-time, onsite position requires an active secret security clearance and involvement in shift work supporting 24/7 system operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and administrate Storage Protect / Spectrum Protect environments and client systems.
• Oversee LAN backups, monitor scheduling, troubleshoot backup failures, and verify daily successful backups of servers and databases.
• Manage tape backup paths, coordinate data and server restoration, and enforce data retention policies consistent with business needs.
• Conduct health checks, implement software updates and patches, optimize server database performance, and carry out routine maintenance.
• Maintain familiarity with Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Administer disk and tape backup pools and manage offsite backup copies to support disaster recovery.
• Plan and forecast storage capacity to accommodate organizational growth and evolving requirements.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

• US citizenship required; dual nationals are ineligible due to federal security requirements.
• Active security clearance mandatory.
• At least seven years of related experience, including five years specifically with Storage Protect/Spectrum Protect or similar technologies.
• Proficient in data protection for VMware environments and knowledgeable in Windows/Unix systems.
• Experienced in managing disk and tape backup pools and in conducting capacity planning and forecasting.
• Must reside in or near Colorado Springs area and be available for onsite work daily, including shift assignments supporting 24/7 system monitoring.

Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off among others. Compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $125,000 annually.
