Role overview
This graduate role is focused on building and improving the real-time infrastructure behind live streaming and the in-app wallet/payment experience. The team works on systems that support large-scale, high-performance, distributed services used by streamers and audiences around the world.
You will contribute throughout the product development cycle, work closely with product managers, and help deliver a fast, stable, and reliable live streaming and wallet experience. The position is intended for early-career engineers joining in 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Work with cross-functional partners to enhance TikTok Wallet and payment services so the in-app wallet remains stable, responsive, and resilient.
- Refine system architecture and technical design to improve uptime, throughput, and overall product reliability.
- Build and maintain large-scale software systems that support the TikTok application.
Minimum qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s program in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related technical field.
- Comfortable programming in at least one of these languages: Go, Python, Java, or C++.
- Strong grasp of computer architecture, data structures, and algorithms, along with familiarity with databases and messaging technologies such as MySQL, Redis, and Kafka.
- Able to communicate effectively and collaborate with stakeholders from different teams.
- Self-motivated, positive, team-oriented, and eager to keep learning.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to highly scalable, highly available, distributed, or mission-critical systems.
- Experience delivering large-scale client-facing projects.
