Job description
About the Employer
The Old Course Hotel sits in one of the world’s best-known golf locations and is an AA 5 Red star, award-winning resort focused on wellbeing, comfort, and memorable guest experiences. It is part of Kohler Company and operates as a privately owned property that aims to deliver personalised service at every touchpoint.
Why This Role Stands Out
The hotel places strong emphasis on its people and sees associates as central to guest satisfaction. It promotes hiring for attitude and personality, with the belief that practical skills can be developed through training. Team members are supported with ongoing learning opportunities, internal progression routes, and guidance from a committed leadership team.
Success is recognised through reward and appreciation schemes, including initiatives aligned with the HOME ethos and Associate of the Month recognition. In return, the role offers a competitive salary, pension support, free parking on site, meals while on shift, round-the-clock employee assistance, and complimentary access to fitness facilities.
Additional lifestyle benefits include discounts on restaurants, retail outlets, spa treatments, and hotel stays so employees can experience the resort’s offerings themselves. Benefit availability is subject to conditions and availability.
Role Overview
The Kitchen Team is looking for a Back of House Supervisor to oversee kitchen porters and help ensure all back-of-house spaces meet hygiene and cleanliness expectations across seven bar and restaurant outlets within the resort.
Key Duties
- Coordinate assigned cleaning tasks in line with the cleaning schedule and make sure there is enough coverage for washing and cleaning equipment, crockery, cutlery, and related items.
- Carry out routine cleaning tasks such as emptying bins, removing waste, sweeping floors, and clearing refrigerators and freezers.
- Make sure cleaning tools and equipment are maintained properly and cleaned after use.
- Escalate maintenance concerns to the Kitchen Clerk or Maintenance Team when needed.
- Work with the Executive Chef and kitchen teams to ensure the right kitchen equipment is available each day.
- Monitor cleaning rotas and ensure they are completed and signed off daily.
What They’re Looking For
Candidates should bring at least two years of experience in a kitchen or cleaning environment. The ideal person will also have prior experience training and supporting team members to maintain standards and keep improving performance. A solid understanding of food hygiene requirements is needed, and experience using chemicals is helpful but not essential.
Working Pattern and Pay
This is a permanent full-time position with 40 hours worked across 5 days per week. The salary is £29,118.04 per year, plus tronc.
Perks and Benefits
- Complimentary meals and refreshments every day in the staff canteen, including hot food, salad options, tea, coffee, and soft drinks.
- Discounts across the resort, including restaurants, luxury rooms, and the pro shop in St Andrews.
- Access to wider Kohler Group savings and discount opportunities.
- Free use of the Kohler Waters Fitness Centre, including gym, 20-metre pool, sauna, and hot tub.
- Support for mortgage information and guidance through complimentary consultations.
- Cycle2Work participation.
- Access to Perkbox with discounts, rewards, and monthly offers.
- Recognition rewards and a refer-a-friend programme.
- 24/7 confidential wellbeing support through the Employee Assistance Programme.
