Job description
Job purpose
This role supports the engineer in carrying out airframe and engine maintenance on Air Arabia aircraft as well as third-party aircraft. It involves helping with inspections, repairs, fault rectification, and component changes so aircraft remain service-ready and operational.
The technician is expected to complete assigned maintenance work and document all finished tasks accurately and on time, while following Air Arabia procedures and the relevant regulatory rules. The work must consistently meet required standards for safety, quality, and airworthiness.
Key responsibilities
Operational excellence
- Go through the assigned task cards with the Engineer-in-Charge before starting, so the work scope, priorities, paperwork needs, and safety cautions are clearly understood.
- Carry out planned aircraft maintenance as assigned, making sure the correct documents, parts, tools, and ground support equipment are collected and used exactly as instructed.
- Perform aircraft checks and inspection activities to the standard needed to identify and record defects or damage in line with approved maintenance methods.
- Complete repairs, part replacements, and functional tests as directed by the task cards and the Engineer-in-Charge, using approved data and procedures.
- Obtain the required tools and equipment from stores for the job, and return everything in proper condition after the work is done.
- Keep the Engineer-in-Charge updated on task progress and report any issues affecting the aircraft condition or the progress of the work.
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards throughout all maintenance activities.
Safety
- Take responsibility for the safety of assigned maintenance activities by following all mandatory precautions before and during the job.
- Protect yourself and others in the maintenance area from harm by using the correct ground support equipment and personal protective equipment.
- Apply human factors awareness in maintenance work, including proper work interruption practices and ensuring suitable access and lighting for inspections and repairs.
Reputation and teamwork
- Provide practical support and useful information to your team and to other departments involved in scheduled maintenance checks.
- Represent the company professionally and positively when dealing with external personnel and customers.
Cost awareness
- Stay mindful of maintenance cost implications, including time and material usage, and avoid avoidable waste, damage, and repeat work.
Qualifications and experience
- Must be a qualified and experienced civil aircraft maintenance technician.
- Good command of English for reading, writing, speaking, and understanding technical communication.
- Comfortable using a computer, including Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to obtain a UAE driving licence.
- At least 2 years of experience maintaining large commercial aircraft, preferably Airbus types.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a base maintenance environment.
- Should have a solid basic understanding of airframe and engine maintenance theory and practice.
