About the role
Pick Your Part is looking for dependable, hands-on people who enjoy practical work and want to support customers by helping keep used auto parts moving. This is a full-time outdoor yard position with opportunities to learn, develop, and grow into a longer-term career.
What you will do
- Carry out outdoor yard work by draining vehicle fluids and removing parts to prepare cars for yard placement.
- Safely and efficiently remove fluids, lubricants, and related components, including converters, as needed before vehicles are set in the yard.
- Take parts from salvage vehicles, including items such as quarter panels, doors, lids, hoods, axles, and suspension components.
- Place vehicles in the yard as assigned and record vehicle details accurately and on time.
- Support vehicle movement by operating a forklift or loader when required.
- Clear debris from vehicles before they are moved into the processing area.
- Remove batteries for testing and return charged batteries to the retail area.
- Coordinate with the loader operator to stage or position vehicles correctly in the yard.
- Walk the yard and place debris into vehicles that are being removed from inventory.
- Break down tires as part of the yard process.
- Keep the work area safe, organized, and clean.
- Follow all EPA and OSHA rules and use required personal protective equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Support ongoing improvements to the company quality system.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Ability to handle straightforward tasks and follow basic work instructions.
- Comfort working with others in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assigned work.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work changing schedules, including weekends.
- Must be comfortable with physically demanding work and outdoor conditions.
- No lifting restrictions, and willingness to work at heights.
- Ability to stand for long periods and also sit, walk, push, pull, bend, and climb as needed.
- Capability to lift and move up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work at heights above 15 feet.
- Comfort working near moving mechanical parts.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather, including hot and cold temperatures.
- Ability to work in a moderately loud environment.
