Position Overview
The Polisher plays a crucial role in ensuring vehicles—new, used, or repaired—meet the highest cosmetic standards before reaching customers. This role directly impacts the customer's perception by delivering a flawless finish through paint correction, polishing, and detailing processes while maintaining OEM standards. The Polisher supports various operational units like Body Shop, Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), and Sales by ensuring showroom-quality vehicle presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute machine polishing, compounding, and multi-step paint correction for various vehicles.
- Eliminate paint imperfections like scratches, swirl marks, oxidation, sanding marks, and minor defects per OEM-approved standards.
- Apply protective coatings such as sealants, waxes, ceramic coatings, and other treatments as required.
- Choose appropriate polishing compounds, pads, and techniques tailored to paint condition and finish.
- Perform comprehensive interior and exterior vehicle detailing, including upholstery cleaning, dashboard care, plastic restoration, and trim finishing.
- Prepare vehicles for PDI, customer delivery, showroom exhibitions, and special events to meet the dealership’s presentation standards.
- Ensure proper use of detailing chemicals and equipment to achieve consistent quality without damage.
- Coordinate with Body Shop, PDI, and Sales teams to prioritize vehicle preparation based on delivery schedules.
- Inspect finished vehicles for defects and report additional cosmetic issues to supervisors for correction.
- Maintain uniform finishing quality across different car models, paint types, and colors.
- Operate polishing machinery and detailing tools safely, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep the workspace clean and compliant with 5S and dealership safety and environmental standards, including proper disposal of materials.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or vocational training in vehicle detailing, body repair, or automotive paint is required.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in vehicle polishing and detailing at franchised dealerships, body shops, or professional detailing studios.
- Proven ability to deliver premium paint correction and showroom finishing quality.
- Experience with premium or high-volume automotive brands is advantageous.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in machine polishing techniques including rotary and dual-action systems.
- Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems, clear coats, and finishing methods.
- Skill in selecting compounds, pads, and techniques based on specific paint conditions.
- Familiarity with advanced protective treatments like ceramic coatings and paint protection films.
- Basic paint defect recognition and adherence to OEM finish standards.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols for chemical handling and equipment use.
