Role Summary
We are looking for a proficient Automotive Mechanic to join our Mobile Maintenance Department at our Waihi underground gold mine. The role involves performing preventative maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on a substantial fleet of Toyota Landcruiser and Hilux light vehicles. The position reports to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and collaborates closely with mining and maintenance teams to maximize equipment availability while adhering strictly to company safety standards, site protocols, legislative mandates, and production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on light vehicles.
- Perform fault diagnosis and problem-solving to ensure operational efficiency.
- Work alongside the mining and maintenance personnel to coordinate vehicle readiness.
- Comply rigorously with safety and site procedures to support a safe work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold a relevant Automotive Trade Qualification.
- Possession of a full New Zealand Driver Licence with competency in driving manual vehicles is mandatory.
- Strong experience in diagnostic, fault finding, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance techniques.
- Previous mining industry exposure and experience with Toyota four-wheel drives are highly beneficial.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety practices.
