Job description
Role overview
A multinational organization in life sciences and advanced manufacturing is hiring a Global Automation & MES Systems Owner to lead a major industrial transformation program. This position sits within a wider $200M capital and automation portfolio and is intended for someone who can move beyond hands-on coding to concentrate on global governance, vendor coordination, and enterprise rollout leadership.
The company is carrying out a multi-site migration to a standardized AVEVA System Platform architecture across brownfield manufacturing sites. In this role, you will assume technical ownership of the remaining site deployments across major regional locations.
Key responsibilities
- Build and direct migration and commissioning approaches that allow brownfield upgrades and cutovers to happen with no production interruption.
- Oversee and protect the global AVEVA standard by managing rollout templates and change control across international sites.
- Serve as the main technical authority for automation and MES platforms across the program.
- Review and challenge work delivered by external system integrators and equipment vendors, ensuring compliance with agreed statements of work.
- Control site-level project spend in the $1M to $3M range and help steer delivery against budget and timeline targets.
Experience and background
- A solid foundation in automation engineering is essential, with preference for candidates whose background is rooted in Rockwell environments.
- You should have progressed into senior project leadership or system governance rather than day-to-day programming.
- Strong architectural knowledge of AVEVA System Platform and object-based managed applications is required.
- Proven ability to audit vendor code, negotiate delivery schedules, and oversee large capital projects.
- Hands-on familiarity with ISA-S88 modelling, including batch control and equipment hierarchies, is needed.
- Experience integrating manufacturing systems with enterprise ERP platforms, particularly SAP-based methods and tools, is important.
