Role Overview
This contract position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and focuses on improving credit card authorization outcomes while strengthening fraud safeguards. The role is centered on helping the cards business strike the right balance between a smooth customer experience and effective risk protection.
About the Work
You will contribute to the performance of a credit cards portfolio by studying approval behavior, decline patterns, fraud controls, and overall portfolio health. The position calls for close coordination with fraud, risk, cards, and issuer stakeholders to support better decision-making and stronger operating results.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a detailed understanding of the bank’s credit card portfolio, including customer groups, spending behavior, and performance across the product lifecycle.
- Shape and improve authorization strategies so approval performance rises without exceeding risk limits.
- Review authorization declines by code, pattern, and root cause to reduce unnecessary declines and improve the customer journey.
- Work with fraud and risk specialists to refine fraud rules and controls while minimizing impact on legitimate transactions.
- Track and summarize core issuing metrics such as approval rates, decline rates, fraud rates, and portfolio performance indicators.
- Use data and analytics to guide decisions across the cards, risk, and operations functions.
- Upgrade management information and reporting dashboards that track authorization and fraud trends.
- Serve as a link between client and issuer stakeholders, ensuring alignment on initiatives, progress, and outcomes.
- Support the rollout of authorization and fraud optimization initiatives and use cases.
- Set up regular governance meetings with stakeholders to review performance and planned improvements.
- Bring in global best practices and market insights to strengthen portfolio performance.
- Support knowledge sharing and capability development within the bank’s cards and fraud teams.
Requirements
- Prior banking experience is essential, along with a strong grasp of the cards business and its authorization and fraud systems.
- 10 to 12 years of experience in cards issuing, fraud risk, and authorization management.
- Solid understanding of the credit card lifecycle, including activation, usage, retention, and spend growth.
- Demonstrated ability to manage authorization strategies and fraud controls effectively.
- Exposure to fraud and authorization technology platforms.
- Ability to convert analytical findings into practical portfolio-level actions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across risk, fraud, and cards portfolio teams.
- Awareness of SAMA rules related to fraud reporting and liability.
- Experience with fraud patterns and market behavior in KSA and GCC markets.
- Understanding of the trade-offs between compliance requirements and business goals.
- Graduate degree required; MBA is preferred.
