Role Overview
The ATM Operational Specialist is pivotal in ATM projects, collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to develop tailored data solutions for end users. This role demands comprehensive knowledge of the TopSky One product suite (ATM, BYPASS, SIM) and includes tasks such as refining existing processes, co-engineering tools and workflows, participating in design and development cycles, and supporting operational dataset creation for testing and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain deep understanding of TopSky One components and functionalities.
- Assess and enhance current operational processes and co-engineering methodologies.
- Collaborate with product owners and system engineers in solution design activities.
- Engage actively in sprint demos and product reviews, delivering constructive feedback.
- Develop and manage datasets crucial for test and evaluation procedures.
- Prepare and provide necessary documentation and artefacts aligned with project milestones.
- Coordinate dataset preparation for various internal stakeholders and customers.
- Work with software integration teams to automate dataset processes including generation and testing.
- Partner with system integration and verification teams to align on needs and timelines for resolutions.
- Mentor and upskill engineering teams to enhance operational understanding.
- Contribute operational insights during design reviews and workshops.
- Support customer contract transition activities alongside support teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Holds Air Traffic Control qualifications with instructor grade preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing Air Traffic Control operations.
- Proficiency in preparing datasets for ATM systems.
- Solid knowledge of Australian ATM domain and standards such as ICAO, Eurocontrol, and AID.
- Strong understanding of the purposes and effects of dataset and adaptation data.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders having varying objectives.
- Experience working in multicultural and international customer environments.
- Capable of functioning in integrated, multidisciplinary teams.
- Exemplifies a proactive, problem-solving attitude with a drive to learn and motivate others.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Simulator or instructor experience is advantageous.
- At least five years in comparable roles delivering complex, real-time, software-intensive systems.
- Familiarity with engineering tools like DOORS and JIRA.
- Knowledge of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) processes.
- Competence in scripting languages such as shell, bash, python, or macros.
