Job description
Role Overview
This full-time on-site role in Atlanta, Georgia supports Georgia Tech intercollegiate athletics through comprehensive sports medicine and athletic training services. The position focuses on keeping student-athletes healthy and ready to compete by managing injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation support, emergency response, and related equipment and administrative tasks. Assignment responsibilities may differ depending on the sport team supported, and the role works closely with training staff, student-athletes, coaching staff, physicians, and healthcare facilities.
Key Duties
- Deliver immediate first aid and determine whether an injury can be treated in-house or should be referred for further care.
- Support rehabilitation plans and recovery activities for injured athletes.
- Ensure safety gear and medical supplies are available, maintained, and properly issued.
- Train staff members and coaches in first aid and CPR procedures.
- Coordinate with external physicians and healthcare providers to support athlete care.
- Maintain accurate training documentation, records, and reports.
- Provide guidance and oversight to training staff when required.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
A master's degree in athletic training, or completion of an education program accredited by the National Athletic Trainers Association / Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, is required. The role also requires certification from the Board for Athletic Trainers, CAATE, NTA, or another recognized accrediting body for athletic trainers. Applicants should have one to two years of job-related experience.
Environment and Scope
This position is based in collegiate sports and involves regular interaction with training staff, student-athletes, and coaching staff. It may also include counseling and advising student-athletes and student trainers, along with supervisory responsibilities over training staff members.
