Role Overview
The Strategy and Corporate Development group is responsible for assessing and executing strategic transactions for Blue Owl Capital. These transactions typically include whole company acquisitions, strategic investments, and partnerships. The ideal candidate will bring intellectual curiosity, robust quantitative analysis capabilities, project management experience, and strong communication skills. This role involves supporting firmwide strategy through analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creative approaches while participating fully in transactional execution.
Responsibilities
- Assist in executing firmwide strategic projects including asset management acquisitions, strategic investments, partnerships, and exploring new business opportunities.
- Perform detailed financial modeling, valuation analysis, and transaction structuring to evaluate diverse business scenarios for strategic decisions.
- Prepare valuation reports and investment analyses to support transaction activities.
- Create presentation materials to aid internal transaction approvals, pipeline assessments, and governance processes.
- Work collaboratively across business units, including finance, treasury, and legal departments, throughout all transaction phases to foster internal relationships and knowledge sharing.
- Oversee strategic project management, devise implementation strategies, and facilitate seamless project transitions into operational execution.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or GP stakes focusing on alternative asset management.
- Proven expertise in financial modeling and valuation, along with a comprehensive understanding of deal process management.
- Ability to develop complex financial models, diligence summaries, and decision-support materials.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex financial and strategic data and delivering findings effectively through written, presentation, and oral communication.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, intellectual curiosity, and proactive initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Commitment to thorough, timely task completion, even under pressure or outside regular working hours.
- Maintain strict confidentiality standards.
- Capacity to understand the overarching corporate perspective and align focus with company objectives.
Compensation and Employment Details
The base annual salary for this New York City-based role typically ranges from $125,000 to $140,000. The final salary is determined by factors such as experience, skillset, and qualifications. Eligible employees may receive discretionary bonuses linked to individual and team performance.
