About Brookfield Energy

Brookfield Energy manages one of the largest publicly traded sustainable energy platforms globally, with operations spanning hydroelectric, wind, utility-scale solar, distributed generation, and storage assets across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The portfolio totals over 35,000 megawatts in operating capacity, supported by a development pipeline nearing 200,000 megawatts. Investments also include significant assets in Westinghouse's nuclear services, utilities in the Caribbean and Latin America, carbon capture and storage, agricultural renewable natural gas, and materials recycling.

Brookfield Energy serves as the flagship energy company of Brookfield Asset Management, which oversees in excess of $1 trillion in assets under management.

Brookfield Culture

We foster a unique culture centered around long-term focus and shared values embodied by our leadership attributes: entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration, and discipline. Brookfield supports employee growth through challenging responsibilities and exposure to diverse business areas.

Role Overview

Based in our New York office, the Investment Associate will report to the Managing Director, Investments, focusing on investment activities within the Energy group. Responsibilities span managing investments for our $20 billion Brookfield Global Transition Fund, a publicly listed energy affiliate, and additional funds including Infrastructure, AI Infrastructure, and Catalytic Transition funds.

Having deployed over $30 billion in recent years globally into renewable and sustainable energy projects, the role involves capitalizing on ongoing positive market trends to expand energy and infrastructure portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and comprehensive investment materials to inform transaction decisions.
  • Perform thorough research on companies, sectors, and markets to validate investment theses, assess risks, value drivers, and forecast transaction outcomes.
  • Coordinate due diligence efforts engaging internal teams, portfolio companies, operating partners, and external consultants.
  • Assist with post-investment business planning, focusing on value creation and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Create presentation content and transaction documentation for both internal use and external stakeholders.
  • Promote and contribute to a disciplined, collaborative, and high-performance team culture.
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Between 1 to 3 years of professional experience in investment banking, infrastructure investments, or related sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and analytical methods.
  • Excellent communication abilities with a capacity to manage multiple tasks autonomously.
  • Strong commercial insight and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Keen interest in energy, infrastructure, industrial sectors, and the energy transition; prior exposure to energy, power, infrastructure, or project finance is advantageous.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proven capability and enthusiasm for collaborative teamwork.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is analytically sharp, commercially savvy, and highly driven, with a genuine passion for investing and the evolving global energy landscape. They adopt a methodical approach to investment underwriting, operate effectively within a team-driven and transaction-focused environment, and uphold Brookfield’s core values.

Compensation and Work Environment

Salary ranges between $150,000 and $200,000 annually, encompassing a base salary plus a performance-based short-term cash bonus. Compensation is competitive within local markets and is determined by factors such as experience, qualifications, and industry background.

Brookfield prioritizes maintaining a positive, safe, and respectful workplace, prohibiting discrimination, harassment, or violence. The organization values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer. Only candidates progressing to pre-screening will be contacted.
