Position overview

B Capital is hiring a pre-MBA Associate to join its Healthcare AI team. This role supports the full investment lifecycle for opportunities ranging from Series A through growth equity, with a focus on healthtech and digital health. The associate will contribute to sourcing, market analysis, deal evaluation, and rigorous business and financial diligence, including advanced modeling work. The firm is seeking someone with a finance background, comfort with AI, strong intellectual curiosity, and a proven ability to turn ideas into concrete results.

What you will do

  • Build market research and develop investment theses that help steer sourcing priorities.
  • Identify and originate new healthcare investments using theme-based research.
  • Track developments and emerging trends in AI as they relate to healthcare.
  • Review incoming investment materials and assess the commercial attractiveness of potential deals.
  • Take ownership of important parts of diligence and transaction workstreams, including audit, tax, legal, and financial analysis.
  • Support portfolio companies across key operating needs with a high-touch approach.
  • Leverage the firm’s network and BCG connections to introduce companies to high-value customer prospects.

What the firm is looking for

  • A strong interest in disruptive technology and new business models.
  • At least 1-3+ years of relevant experience, ideally in healthcare investment banking or in finance/business development within an operating company.
  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, data science, biology, biomedical engineering, engineering with a biology focus, biochemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical capability.
  • Prior venture capital or private equity experience is not required, though it would be an advantage.
  • Finance experience is particularly preferred.
  • Willingness to be based in San Francisco, either by relocating or already living there.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid setup with 3 days per week in the San Francisco office.

Competencies and working style

  • Sharp analytical judgment and genuine curiosity about emerging technologies.
  • Awareness of market trends, especially AI-driven opportunities and investable themes.
  • Ability to turn complex ideas into clear, concise slides and written materials.
  • Experience with detailed financial models, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis, along with quantitative market research and valuation comparisons.
  • Exposure to venture capital metrics such as cap tables, returns modeling, and standard venture terminology is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and eagerness to help shape both portfolio companies and the firm itself.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound business judgment, and a strong work ethic.

Compensation

The California salary range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000, with final compensation depending on relevant experience. This pay range applies only to California candidates and may be updated over time.
