About the Role and Organization

Optum's team in Dublin seeks an Associate Director to lead rebate modeling efforts within the Optum Rx Industry Relations pre-deal analytics unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Forecast and evaluate pharmaceutical and medical drug rebates for client formularies ranging from $50 million to $3 billion.
- Analyze client formularies to determine rebate eligibility relative to manufacturer contracts.
- Collaborate with underwriting, sales, client account management, and other teams to facilitate client acquisition and retention of margins.
- Recommend formulary adjustments to ensure competitive rebate structures that support growth and margin goals.
- Conduct competitive analyses of PBM formularies to uncover rebate opportunities and partner with the rebate contracting team to obtain advantageous rebates.
- Develop innovative rebate strategies leveraging market and client data to maintain industry-leading rebate rates.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on rebates for underwriting teams.
- Manage complex RFPs to identify approaches that maximize rebates and market competitiveness.
- Translate complex rebate economics into clear insights for executive leadership review and approval.
- Advise clients and consultants on alternative pricing and plan design options grounded in economic data and market trends.
- Aggregate and analyze detailed data, demonstrating strong technical aptitude.
- Evaluate pricing guarantees for risk.
- Establish best practices to enhance efficiency in workflows, especially under tight timelines.
- Audit forecasting tools, troubleshoot discrepancies, and improve accuracy in models.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, or equivalent experience.
- Proven expertise in financial analysis, modeling, or underwriting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and database query tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up effectively.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Postgraduate qualifications such as MBA, CPA, CFA, or related credentials.
- Experience within healthcare or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Understanding of PBM and rebate structures.
- Background in PBM underwriting or healthcare contracting.
- Experience in financial consulting or auditing.
