Job description
Role overview
The Head of Report Computations is a senior leadership position within the Client Reporting area. This role owns the accuracy, control, and regulatory soundness of all calculated data used in investor reporting within a SaaS-based operating model. The position sits at senior management level and is the final accountable authority for computation outputs and how regulatory requirements are interpreted and applied across reporting services.
A major part of the job is to build a scalable computations capability led by specialists, backed by a strong control mindset. The aim is to deepen regulatory expertise, reduce reliance on individual knowledge holders, and consistently produce outputs that are ready for audit.
Minimum background required
Candidates should bring extensive experience in regulatory reporting, data computation, or control-focused functions, along with strong knowledge of PRIIPs, UCITS, EMT/EPT, CCI, Solvency II, and EET frameworks. A degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a similar subject is required. The role also calls for a solid understanding of RTS and calculation methods used in regulation, plus proven experience operating at senior management level and influencing across teams. Experience in SaaS or platform-led operating models would be an advantage, as would strong client and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key responsibilities
- Take full senior accountability for computation frameworks and outputs across all regulatory and client reporting services.
- Serve as the main senior contact for the Global Data Management team on data ownership, governance, and data-quality standards.
- Work closely with Client Relationship Managers to support client conversations, handle regulatory questions, and manage significant changes.
- Represent the computations function in client-facing discussions, explaining methods and regulatory interpretation clearly when needed.
- Collaborate with Technology teams to shape and prioritise development needs on Carne-supported platforms and help influence the product roadmap.
- Make sure all computations onboarding and implementation setup requirements are completed in line with internal standards, client expectations, and regulatory duties.
- Oversee onboarding work such as platform configuration, method validation, and formal approval before go-live.
- Lead and develop the Report Computations team, creating a strong culture of governance, control, and accountability.
- Create and oversee material change processes with clear records, business justification, and regulatory alignment.
- Ensure calculated outputs are accurate, checked, and suitable for use before report production begins.
- Partner with Client Reporting Operations and Service Delivery teams so computation outputs align with production schedules.
- Provide senior leadership with insight into performance, risks, and control effectiveness.
- Make sure factsheet calculations are held to the same standards as regulatory reporting outputs.
- Support ongoing improvement through defined KPIs and performance measures.
People leadership and capability development
- Lead a high-performing computations team with clear ownership, objectives, and performance expectations.
- Develop a centre of excellence for regulatory computations with deep expertise in RTS, calculation methods, and data controls.
- Design structured onboarding, training, and ongoing learning programmes covering regulatory frameworks and platform capabilities.
- Promote consistency through standard methods, documentation, and cross-training.
- Put strong performance management in place, including coaching, development plans, and progression pathways.
- Encourage strong ownership, proactive issue handling, and audit-ready decision-making throughout the team.
- Build the team’s ability to operate with greater autonomy so the SaaS model can scale and key-person dependence is reduced.
Competencies required
- Leadership of people: able to guide, mentor, and develop a varied team while encouraging collaboration, accountability, and improvement.
- Communication: communicates clearly and professionally in a warm, engaging way.
- Planning and organisation: manages work effectively to meet quality and timing expectations in both the short and long term.
- Analytical attention to detail: able to assess complex information and data and draw sound conclusions.
- Adaptability: adjusts approach well in response to different situations, people, and opportunities.
- Resilience: handles competing demands well and recovers quickly from setbacks in a constructive way.
- Drive and motivation: highly motivated, focused on delivery, and able to inspire others.
- Quality focus: committed to accurate, high-quality, and timely output.
- Client focus: comfortable in customer-facing settings and focused on service quality and client needs.
- Learning mindset: eager to learn and understand new techniques, tools, and factors affecting the work.
