Associate - Asia Rates Trading, Currencies and Emerging Markets

Job Overview

Join our front office rates trading team focusing on Asia markets where you will engage in market making, pricing, and executing interest rate instruments while actively managing multi-curve risks for regional clients. This role offers close collaboration with sales, technology, and quantitative research teams, allowing you to deepen expertise in both cash and derivative products within a dynamic trading floor environment. Key Responsibilities

• Market making across Asia rates products, ensuring strong liquidity and execution for institutional clients in priority markets.
• Pricing and trade execution of cash and derivative instruments, including government bonds, interest rate swaps, overnight indexed swaps (OIS), basis and cross-currency swaps, and listed rates futures where relevant.
• Aggregate risk management covering multiple curves such as DV01/PV01, key rate durations, curve and butterfly exposures, along with basis and cross-currency risks.
• Develop and communicate trading ideas aligned with client hedging and investment goals across Asia markets.
• Provide timely insights on market auctions, policy changes, interbank liquidity conditions, and significant trading flows spanning regional curves.
• Optimize carry and roll returns, funding considerations, and collateral usage within desk limits.
• Work closely with technology and middle office teams to improve pricing tools, trade capture processes, and risk management infrastructure ensuring accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with quantitative research to enhance pricing models, curve construction methods, and risk governance frameworks.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience analyzing or trading in Asia Pacific rates markets, familiar with various Asia curves.
• Strong knowledge of market conventions and pricing techniques for both cash and derivative instruments in Asia rates markets.
• Proficiency in Excel and VBA for data analytics; knowledge of Python or similar programming languages is advantageous.
• Understanding of risk metrics and sensitivities including DV01/PV01, key rate durations, curve, basis, and cross-currency exposures.

Preferred Competencies

• Experience trading government bonds, interest rate swaps, overnight indexed swaps, and listed rates futures, including familiarity with basis and cross-currency swaps.
• Strong quantitative foundation in fixed income and derivatives pricing, encompassing curve building and bootstrapping techniques across Asian markets.
• Awareness of client segments active in Asia rates and the regional market conventions.
