Job Overview
As the Business Development and Contracts Manager at vPost, you will play a pivotal role in the expansion of our business. This senior position involves managing vital white-label partnerships and building our global vendor network to support growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the main commercial liaison for white-label partners, fostering long-term relationships and ensuring compliance with service level agreements to optimize partnership growth.
- Lead the sourcing, renewal, and procurement processes for worldwide warehouse and freight vendors, including driving the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, assessing vendor performance, and negotiating contract terms to maintain uninterrupted service delivery.
- Utilize data-driven market research to identify promising countries for expansion and manage the entire market entry process, from selecting local third-party logistics providers to setting up operational infrastructure.
- Perform regular international site inspections of vendor facilities to evaluate warehouse quality, security measures, and operational effectiveness, collaborating with operational teams to monitor and report on vendor performance.
- Maintain strategic awareness of global logistics trends, cross-border regulations, freight cost fluctuations, and innovations, particularly AI-enabled supply chain solutions, and communicate insights to leadership for informed decision-making.
- Cooperate cross-functionally with Finance and Legal departments to ensure global contracts uphold compliance, mitigate risks, and secure commercial advantages.
- Oversee the operations team responsible for day-to-day vendor management, training, SLA compliance, and operational performance of warehouse partners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
- Expertise in logistics, including 3PL/4PL management, freight forwarding, or cross-border e-commerce logistics operations.
- Proven proficiency in handling complex contract negotiations and vendor management, especially knowledgeable in Incoterms and international trade laws.
- Strong analytical skills for market research and financial modeling with a profit and loss focus to validate expansion prospects.
- Experience with advanced supply chain technologies such as Warehouse Management Systems and digital sourcing platforms.
Skills and Personal Attributes
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 30% of the time, including visits to remote warehouse locations and global business centers.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to navigate diverse business environments and negotiation approaches across Asia, the US, Europe, and emerging markets.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively presenting vPost's value propositions and managing challenging vendor discussions.
