Role Overview
The Assistant Store Manager at Platypus Shoes Napier will collaborate closely with the Store Manager to lead a team of enthusiastic casual staff. This role centers on driving sales growth and key performance indicators (KPIs), mentoring team members, and ensuring exceptional customer service. You will influence the store atmosphere's energy and hone your leadership abilities in a dynamic retail setting.
Key Duties
- Partner with the Store Manager to meet sales goals, achieve KPIs and uphold visual merchandising standards.
- Encourage and motivate the team to excel in sales and provide remarkable customer experiences.
- Track and assess store sales data on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to recognize successes and identify improvement areas.
- Plan rosters and manage wage costs to align with company targets and maximize operational efficiency.
- Coach and mentor team members to maintain high morale, deliver continual training, and prepare for succession.
- Manage inventory levels, maintain store appearance, control shrinkage, and ensure operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to all Occupational Health & Safety policies and applicable legislation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous leadership role such as senior casual, key holder, third in charge (3IC), or supervisor in a busy retail environment.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of achieving sales and KPI targets.
- Hands-on, proactive management style with a strong 'Make it Happen' drive.
- Excellent communication abilities coupled with a passion for coaching and developing others.
- Operational expertise including stock management and visual merchandising aptitude.
- Genuine passion for elevating the customer experience and working with premium products.
