About Bloomfield Hospital

Bloomfield Hospital is a 131-bed inpatient mental health facility recognized by the Mental Health Commission. It specializes in neuropsychiatric care for adults suffering from conditions such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's disease, early onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. It is uniquely positioned as the only centre in Ireland providing specialized Huntington's disease care.

The hospital emphasizes a therapeutic atmosphere using recovery-centered clinical approaches and evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at enhancing patients' functional abilities and life quality. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team comprising Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice professionals. Over 200 team members contribute to a supportive and inclusive workplace environment.

Primary Duties

• Deliver psychoeducational sessions focusing on anxiety management, stress relief, emotional regulation, behavioral analysis, and offering a supportive listening environment.
• Coordinate and assist in leading group psychological therapy programs tailored to diverse clinical groups.
• Assist with preparation and facilitation of group therapy sessions.
• Review relevant literature, present findings, and contribute to scholarly articles.
• Conduct psychometric assessments before and after interventions using diverse tools including self-report scales, rating scales, observations, and interviews for patients referred to psychology services.
• Maintain active collaboration with the Psychology Department, providing timely feedback on program outcomes.
• Promote psychological services through effective communication and sharing of pertinent information with stakeholders.
• Perform data gathering, statistical analysis, and reporting concerning therapeutic interventions as required.
• Engage in research activities, audits, and service evaluations.
• Participate in regular supervision sessions individually and as part of the team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, particularly nursing staff, to support patient care.
• Ensure maintenance of psychological service resources including training materials, assessment equipment, information packets, and library resources.

Candidate Qualifications

Essential:

• A degree in Psychology studied as a single subject.
• Eligibility for graduate membership with the Psychological Society of Ireland.
• Strong communication capabilities.

Desirable:

• Prior work, volunteer, or paid experience with clinical populations, mainly those with severe mental health or neurodegenerative disorders.
• Experience in research activities.
• Familiarity with psychological assessment administration, scoring, and report writing.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.

Employment Conditions and Benefits
