Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager collaborates closely with the Project Manager to oversee multiple projects throughout various stages of their lifecycle. This role involves supporting project execution, managing documentation, schedules, budgets, and ensuring communication among all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Share ownership of projects by preparing construction documents and managing schedules alongside the Project Manager and Superintendent, coordinating subcontractors' involvement.
- Maintain and monitor project budgets diligently.
- Create subcontract terms and conditions for estimates to integrate into master contracts.
- Support Preconstruction team with buyout processes.
- Manage master submittal schedules and logs, as well as material tracking and deficiency logs.
- Assist in resolving project-specific issues in cooperation with the Project Manager.
- Help Project Administrator handle all necessary construction documentation.
- Handle Owner Change Order Requests from initial requests to change order submissions.
- Prepare and distribute Subcontractor Change Orders and update associated budgets accordingly.
- Assist in preparing monthly Applications for Payment.
- Work with Project Administrator and Manager to complete project close-out tasks.
- Participate actively in trade pre-construction meetings to ensure all requirements are reviewed.
- Record minutes for Owner and Subcontractor meetings accurately.
- Submit permit applications and track the status of all project permits.
- May independently oversee smaller projects with limited scope and complexity.
- Engage with Hourigan’s Safety and Health Management System (SHMS), committing to safe work practices, attending safety training, raising concerns, and eliminating hazards alongside safety personnel.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a similar field.
- 2 to 5 years of progressive experience in construction roles.
- Eagerness to learn, face new challenges, and effectively collaborate with team members.
- Excellent organizational skills, adept at prioritizing multiple tasks with shifting deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Familiarity with scheduling software and platforms such as Textura, Procore, and Bluebeam is preferred.
- High ethical standards demonstrated through integrity, fairness, and care in all responsibilities.
- A proactive leadership approach, viewing challenges as opportunities for innovative solutions.
- Consistently exceeding expectations to deliver outstanding results.
- Willingness to travel periodically as required.
