Job description
Role Overview
An established organisation is looking for an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to help steer procurement activities across several business areas. This position will be central to sourcing, maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, upholding procurement controls, and delivering purchasing solutions that balance value, quality, and operational performance.
What You Will Do
- Help design and roll out procurement plans that support business needs and operational targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure dependable service, competitive pricing, and consistent quality.
- Carry out supplier searches, market studies, vendor assessments, and benchmarking exercises.
- Support commercial discussions, manage contract administration tasks, and track supplier performance.
- Handle routine procurement work, including the prompt processing of purchase requests and purchase orders.
- Work closely with internal teams to understand purchasing needs and deliver suitable sourcing approaches.
- Track supplier delivery performance, service levels, and compliance with agreed timelines.
- Make sure procurement work follows company procedures, contract terms, and relevant regulations.
- Assist with supplier-related risk management, contract risk control, and supply continuity planning.
- Contribute to spend reviews, savings initiatives, and procurement-related reporting.
- Look for ways to streamline procurement workflows, systems, and overall efficiency.
- Support the adoption and use of procurement technology and digital tools.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a similar field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ procurement experience is needed, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead role.
- Background in any of these sectors is preferred: hospitality, facilities management, construction, aviation, events, or property management.
- Strong working knowledge of procurement cycles, supplier management, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiation is expected.
- Sound understanding of the UAE supplier landscape is important.
- Prior use of ERP platforms is required, and experience with Oracle Procurement will be an advantage.
- You should bring strong commercial judgement and analytical capability.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills are necessary.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a demanding, fast-moving environment is essential.
