Job description

Position Overview

The University of Indianapolis invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Practice in Sport Management within the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Sciences, starting August 2026. This full-time, nine-month faculty role focuses on teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in a COSMA-accredited Sport Management program, coupled with mentoring, advising, and community engagement duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver undergraduate and graduate instruction in courses such as introduction to sport management, sport sales, sport administration, legal issues, and other specialization areas.
  • Supervise student internships and advise at least 30 students annually.
  • Enhance the visibility and reputation of the Sport Management programs at the university.
  • Participate actively in university, college, departmental, and community service activities.
  • Adhere to university policies, demonstrating ethical and responsible conduct, punctuality, and collaboration with supervisors.
  • Engage in additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Expectations

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Sport Management, Sport Administration, or a related discipline preferred; ABD, JD, or master's degree holders will be considered.
  • Proven track record of successful university-level teaching and a strong commitment to quality education.
  • Experience or significant engagement with the sports industry or related sectors preferred, with enthusiasm for connecting students with regional sport organizations.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.
