Job description
Role overview
This position sits within Deloitte Shared Services India’s Business Tax practice and focuses on direct tax support for clients. The team helps organizations meet income-tax compliance and statutory reporting obligations, while also advising on a range of domestic tax matters.
As an Assistant Manager in the Business Tax team, you will collaborate with colleagues and clients to deliver accurate, timely, and practical tax support in a fast-moving environment.
What you will do
- Support tax advisory assignments by carrying out detailed research on technical income-tax questions.
- Draft tax opinions, brief notes, and responses to routine client queries over email or other communication channels.
- Handle tax compliance work such as income-tax return filings, withholding tax statements, advance tax work, tax provisioning, and other filings including SFT.
- Assist with tax assessments and litigation matters before assessing officers, income-tax authorities, and appellate bodies.
- Prepare replies to audit notices and questionnaires and help represent matters related to assessments, rectifications, and similar proceedings.
- Work with internal teams and enabling functions to coordinate day-to-day delivery needs.

- Chartered Accountant qualification with 0 to 2 years of experience in direct taxation.
- Strong grasp of tax concepts and technical principles.

- Clear verbal and written communication, along with good presentation ability.

- Persistence, influence, and a persuasive approach when handling tax matters.
