Job Overview
This position is responsible for ensuring efficient and precise patient admission, bed allocation, documentation, financial clearance, and coordination for various patient categories including Cash, TPA, Corporate, PSU, CGHS & ECHS. All processes must align with hospital standard operating procedures, payer guidelines, and admission protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient admission and settlement procedures for scheduled, emergency, and transfer patients.
- Verify patient identity, demographic details, consultant information, and admission paperwork within the Hospital Information System (HIS).
- Coordinate bed assignments and confirm admissions and discharges with nursing staff, bed management, billing, and clinical departments.
- Communicate admission steps, cost estimates, packages, deposits, eligibility criteria, and hospital policies to patients and their attendants.
- Handle admissions and settlements for Cash, TPA, Insurance, Corporate, PSU, CGHS & ECHS patients following prescribed guidelines.
- Verify all necessary authorization documents such as letters, corporate approvals, insurance cards, and referral letters before admission.
- Collect admission deposits, signed undertakings, consent forms, and financial documents according to policy.
- Ensure accurate tariff selection, proper payer mapping, package application, and billing category updates in HIS.
- Liaise with TPA and billing departments to obtain cashless approvals and admission clearance.
- Maintain comprehensive admission records, forms, files, and documentation for audits and compliance.
- Collaborate with doctors, nursing, billing, and support personnel to ensure smooth admission and settlement experience for patients.
- Address patient and attendant inquiries, providing clear guidance on admission, settlement, and financial procedures.
- Communicate promptly regarding bed status, admission progress, and any pending clearances.
- Adhere strictly to hospital SOPs, NABH quality standards, and admission compliance protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate degree preferred in Healthcare, Hospital Management, Commerce, or related fields.
- At least 2 years experience in hospital admission or front office operations, ideally within a multi-specialty hospital environment.
- Sound knowledge of hospital admission, settlement, and patient registration processes.
- Strong understanding of protocols for Cash, TPA, Insurance, Corporate, PSU, CGHS & ECHS admissions and settlements.
- Practical experience using Hospital Information Systems and patient registration software.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and patient interaction capabilities.
- Basic proficiency in computer use, including MS Excel.
- Ability to effectively manage emergency situations and high patient volumes.
