About the Role
Western Care Association is focused on delivering the right support in the right setting for the people it serves across County Mayo. The organisation is currently expanding its team and is seeking an Assistant Manager for Greenlands Residential Service in Ballina, Co. Mayo. The role is at Social Care Worker grade and is part of a progressive service committed to helping people live meaningful lives.

Role Purpose
The successful candidate will support people to live in a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment. The post involves working with individuals, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to encourage independence, uphold equality, and help people achieve personal goals. The role also includes advocating for each person’s needs, choices, rights, and preferences, along with contributing to Individual Plans.
Qualifications and Registration
Applicants must meet the requirements to practise as a Social Care Worker through CORU registration, or hold a qualification recognised by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU. Eligible qualifications may fall under Approved Qualifications, Schedule 3 Qualifications, or Sufficiently Relevant Qualifications. Candidates must also provide evidence of an active application for CORU registration.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will be committed to helping people create positive opportunities and meaningful change in their lives. The role calls for someone with experience in person- and family-centred support, a strong appreciation of equality, inclusion, and quality of life, and the confidence to advocate respectfully for individuals. Experience with people who have high or complex support needs, leadership or supervisory duties, service improvement, budget awareness, and working knowledge of New Directions and HIQA standards are all important. Good IT skills are preferred, and flexibility is expected to meet service demands.
Key Duties
Responsibilities include taking part in local service planning, supporting creative responses to changing service needs, and helping shape how the service develops. The post also involves providing personal care and practical assistance when required, maintaining a safe and respectful workplace, following Dignity at Work and Health & Safety requirements, promoting safety in line with organisational practice, and using positive approaches to support people who may display challenging behaviour.
Additional Requirements
A full driving licence is essential. All candidates will be subject to Irish Garda vetting and reference checks. Applicants from outside the EU must include valid work authorisation for employment in the Republic of Ireland with their application. Anyone who has lived outside the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland for more than six months since the age of 16 must provide Overseas Police Clearance.
Pay and Benefits
The salary is aligned to the Social Care Worker pay scale, ranging from €36,381 to €54,744 per annum based on a 39-hour working week. Health Requirement
