Job Overview
The Assistant Manager, serving as the Package Incharge for Water Treatment (ETP, PUW, STP), is responsible for overseeing the daily functions and maintenance of water treatment systems. This role ensures the production of potable water that meets safety standards and environmental compliance, while driving resource optimization, safety adherence, and continuous improvement in treatment processes. The position involves leadership responsibilities directing teams and ensuring regulatory conformity to enhance operational efficiency and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Pure Water (PUW) systems, ensuring high-quality, safe potable water production through filtration and disinfection processes for consumption and industrial usage.
- Supervise Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) operations to guarantee compliance with environmental discharge norms, minimizing ecological impact and maintaining regulatory quality standards.
- Optimize the application of manpower, chemical usage, and equipment across all water treatment operations, including budgeting and cost control measures for sustainable processes.
- Regularly monitor and analyze water quality from PUW, ETP, and STP systems, promptly addressing deviations to uphold safety, environmental standards, and contamination prevention.
- Research, introduce, and implement water-saving technologies and conservation practices to reduce consumption and improve operational efficiency.
- Enforce stringent safety protocols including mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), conducting periodic safety audits and risk evaluations to maintain compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
- Utilize data analytics to detect inefficiencies, propose and apply technological advancements and process improvements aimed at boosting system performance, decreasing downtime, and achieving cost reductions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop water treatment operations and maintenance teams, fostering a culture prioritizing safety, respect, productivity, and continuous professional development.
Stakeholder Interaction
- Internal collaboration with Leads in Commercial & Industrial areas, Chemists, Mechanical Leads, Package Incharges for O&M, and Chemical Area Incharges.
- Engagement with external partners including equipment suppliers, waste management companies, environmental consultants, and laboratories.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline is mandatory.
- Additional certifications in water and wastewater treatment or environmental management are advantageous.
- Proven knowledge of water chemistry, treatment processes, and relevant environmental legislation is critical.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience managing water and wastewater treatment operations within industrial environments is required, along with demonstrated success leading teams, maintaining regulatory compliance, and implementing water management optimizations.
