Job description

Role Overview

This position leads the design and execution of the organization’s fraud risk approach. It is accountable for fraud governance across the enterprise, conducting forensic inquiries, and improving the tools used to detect and monitor fraud at scale.

The role is focused on protecting financial resources, supporting regulatory adherence, and building a workplace culture that is alert to fraud risk.

Governance and Oversight

  • Create, roll out, and regularly refresh fraud risk policies, control frameworks, and operating procedures so they remain aligned with applicable global regulatory expectations.
  • Run periodic, end-to-end fraud risk assessments to spot exposure areas, evaluate built-in risk, and define key risk indicators.
  • Build dashboards and management reports covering fraud patterns, loss figures, and control performance for the Board and senior leaders.

Investigation and Incident Response

  • Direct complex internal and external fraud case investigations, ensuring conclusions are timely, impartial, and defensible from a legal standpoint.
  • Keep thorough case records, forensic notes, and evidence files in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with legal, compliance, and law enforcement stakeholders on suspicious activity reporting and efforts to recover assets.
  • Perform post-case root cause reviews to improve controls, revise policies, and reduce the chance of repeat fraud events.

System Implementation and Optimization

  • Lead the assessment, selection, and enterprise deployment of AI/ML-based fraud detection solutions, analytics platforms, and ongoing monitoring systems.
  • Refine fraud models on an ongoing basis to identify new fraud patterns while keeping false alerts low and minimizing disruption to customers.
  • Manage third-party fraud technology vendors to ensure strong system performance, reliable API connections, and solid return on investment.
  • Use analytics and visualization tools to monitor transactions in real time and assess the health of fraud monitoring systems continuously.

Qualifications and Skills

The preferred background includes a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, with a master’s qualification considered an advantage.

Professional experience should include 3–5+ years in fraud risk management, forensic accounting, or financial crime compliance within banking, plus 1–2 years in a managerial role preferred.

Strong working knowledge of English and Arabic is required. Certifications such as CFE or CAMS are highly desirable.
