Position Overview
The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is inviting applications from qualified Ghanaian professionals who are target-driven, results-focused, and demonstrate strong leadership, for the role of Assistant Head, Assets, Estate and Procurement.
Key Duties
- Help design and roll out policies and procedures for managing organizational assets.
- Keep asset records current and accurate, including tagging and valuation details.
- Oversee how assets are used, maintained, and disposed of, ensuring compliance with applicable rules.
- Carry out regular audits of assets owned by the organization.
- Assist with the administration of office premises, staff housing, and other estate facilities.
- Ensure both planned and reactive maintenance is carried out for buildings, equipment, and related facilities.
- Take part in planning and supervising construction, renovation, and refurbishment works.
- Support the purchase of goods, works, and services according to approved procedures.
- Contribute to the preparation and execution of annual procurement plans.
- Participate in bid assessments, supplier selection, and contract administration.
- Maintain vendor records and track supplier performance.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with laws, internal controls, and organizational policies.
- Prepare management reports covering asset, estate, and procurement matters.
- Offer technical input to improve policies and streamline operational processes.
Eligibility and Experience
Applicants must be Ghanaian nationals who meet the role requirements and are prepared to work full time in Accra.
Suitable candidates should have a strong background in asset management, estate operations, procurement, and construction. The role also calls for leadership ability, analytical thinking, and sound negotiation skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who are members of GNAT in good standing, professional teachers, and staff from Ghana Education Service or TVET Service who meet the required rank and experience criteria.
Qualification Requirements
- A Master's degree in Architecture, Estate Management, Building Technology, Building and Construction, Procurement & Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in asset management, real estate, procurement, or construction, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Applicants must be between 40 and 55 years of age.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required; experience with AutoCAD and ERP systems will be an added advantage.
- GNAT members in good standing and professional teachers will have an advantage.
- Applicants from Ghana Education Service/TVET Service must additionally hold the rank of Assistant Director II.
- Existing GNAT staff, whether teaching or non-teaching, must also have at least 2 years of service within GNAT in addition to the stated academic and professional requirements.
- Strong understanding of procurement regulations, asset management systems, and estate operations.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and professional communication skills.
