Job Overview
The Assistant Finance Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance Manager by managing the daily financial activities specific to the Rent a Car division. This includes ensuring precise financial reporting, maintaining budgetary control, and adhering to accounting standards along with UAE tax laws. Acting as a key liaison between the accounting team and finance leadership, this position guarantees prompt and dependable financial data to inform both operational and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly: Consolidate and verify monthly financial statements prepared by the accounting team before forwarding to the Finance Manager. Assist in producing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports and management decks. Contribute to budgeting cycles by integrating departmental data and tracking variances versus budgets. Liaise with internal and external auditors by supplying necessary schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents. Review VAT and Corporate Tax returns prepared by the accounting department to ensure compliance with relevant UAE tax regulations. Track and report on fleet financial metrics such as depreciation, residual values, insurance costs, and revenue from fleet usage.
- Weekly: Evaluate financial analyses provided by the accounting team, pinpoint trends, discrepancies, and critical focus areas. Confirm all financial statements and reconciliations meet IFRS and other accounting requirements. Manage reconciliation processes for the General Ledger and intercompany accounts, promptly addressing any irregularities. Oversee aging reports for receivables and payables, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding items.
- Daily: Monitor daily cash flow and fund positions, alerting the Finance Manager to liquidity issues. Review daily fund flow statements prepared within the accounting team. Serve as the primary escalation point for finance-related inquiries from clients, vendors, and internal departments. Oversee daily reconciliations for bank, vendor, and rental fleet accounts. Mentor and guide the accounting team regarding transaction processing and accounting treatments.
Decision-Making Authority
The Assistant Finance Manager works under the Finance Manager's supervision with delegated authority to approve routine financial transactions, reconciliations, and reports prepared by accounting. Matters with significant financial risk, policy exceptions, or strategic importance are escalated to the Finance Manager.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Expertise in IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Familiarity with UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, and compliance frameworks.
- Understanding of financial aspects related to fleet and rental industries such as vehicle depreciation and leasing residual values is an advantage.
- Strong skills in accounting and finance management.
- Experience coordinating internal and external audits.
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, IAS, and IFRS compliance.
- Knowledgeable in VAT filing and tax compliance procedures.
- Competence in budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Capability to oversee and guide team members.

Qualification and Experience
- Preferred: Professional accounting credentials such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or an equivalent qualification. Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- At least 5–7 years of pertinent experience in accounting or finance, inclusive of a minimum of 2 years in supervisory or leadership positions.
- Industry experience within automotive, rent-a-car, or dealership sectors viewed favorably.
