Role overview
MDPI is seeking graduates who want to remain closely involved with scientific research while helping authors around the world bring their latest findings to publication. This is a full-time Assistant Editor role based in Singapore.
What you will do
- Assist with the editorial workflow for academic journals within your subject area.
- Manage the peer-review journey for submitted manuscripts and help facilitate editorial decisions.
- Oversee email-based communication among authors, reviewers, and the editorial teams involved in publication.
- Work closely with colleagues in editorial and production functions.
- Help ensure scholarly articles are edited accurately and published on schedule, while maintaining a consistently high standard.
Who should apply
Applicants should hold a master's degree in one of the relevant academic fields, including Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Materials Science, Agriculture, Medicine and Pharmacy, Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Linguistics, and Education Science.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Prior editorial experience is helpful but not mandatory.
Requirements and preferred background
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once with strong attention to detail.
- Well-developed organizational and time management abilities.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Previous research and/or laboratory exposure in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of how peer review works in academic publishing is an advantage.
- Experience in scholarly publishing is considered beneficial.
