Role Overview

The Assistant Director of Engineering will support the Director of Engineering in overseeing the full scope of the Engineering Department’s daily functions at Shebara Resort. This position involves ensuring the reliable operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems. The role is pivotal in maintaining facility integrity, guest comfort, and safety, while leading an efficient engineering team focused on preventive and sustainable maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and managing preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate daily engineering operations ensuring prompt attention to service requests.
• Monitor energy and utility usage, contributing to sustainability initiatives and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all fire, health, and safety regulations at the property.
• Support long-term planning for maintenance and capital expenditure projects.
• Lead and supervise engineering staff, oversee recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of equipment, plant, and public areas.
• Manage external contractors and vendors to ensure service quality and timeliness.
• Administer maintenance records, inspection reports, and budgeting documents.
• Assist with departmental budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
• Support adherence to departmental standard operating procedures and legal compliance.
• Contribute to engineering projects, renovations, and installation initiatives.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure operational readiness and service excellence.
• Act as Director of Engineering during their absence.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related discipline.
• 6 to 8 years of experience in engineering or maintenance roles within luxury hotel or resort environments.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
• Experience with maintenance and facility management software.
• Understanding of sustainable practices and energy management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Availability for on-call duties and emergency situations.
