This position oversees daily sports information and marketing operations for assigned sports, helps generate departmental revenue through fundraising, sponsorships, and licensing, and manages the collection and distribution of athletics information to internal and external audiences. The role also serves as the main communications contact for the athletics department and all 18 varsity teams, with travel required as needed.

Key Responsibilities

The role provides leadership and operational support across athletics communications, marketing, and game-day functions, and contributes to broader departmental leadership.

  • Manage the sports information and marketing budget, and recruit, train, and supervise graduate assistants, interns, student assistants, statisticians, and other event personnel.
  • Act as the college’s licensing representative and primary liaison with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), ensuring all logo use complies with branding and licensing standards.
  • Support athletics fundraising and development efforts with Institutional Advancement, including team fundraising activities and maintenance of a department donor database.
  • Oversee the administrative functions of the Storm Club booster organization.
  • Coordinate media relations with local and regional outlets and develop strategies to increase exposure for teams, student-athletes, and the athletics department.
  • Serve as managing editor for athletics publications such as media guides, camp and clinic materials, game programs, schedule cards, promotional pieces, advertising materials, and newsletters.
  • Maintain and improve the athletics website and social media channels.
  • Plan media hospitality and game management for varsity events and G-MAC and/or NCAA championships held on campus or at alternate hosting sites.
  • Compile, record, and manage cumulative statistics and records for all varsity sports.
  • Create publication timelines for all varsity sports.
  • Travel with teams when required and attend home contests, including indoor and outdoor events in sometimes difficult weather conditions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and seasonal reports required by the NCAA and conference offices.
  • Negotiate and finalize broadcast agreements with area stations, select on-air talent when needed, and serve as the contact point for Coaches Shows and other live or on-location events.
  • Work beyond a standard 40-hour week when necessary, including evenings, Sundays, nights, and holidays.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics.

Special Requirements

All athletics staff are expected to understand and follow institutional, conference, and NCAA rules related to recruiting and program operations. Any violation must be self-reported to the compliance office or the director of athletics. Employees who knowingly violate, conceal, or help cover up NCAA rules may face discipline up to and including termination.

Applicants should be prepared to work evenings and weekends and must hold a valid driver’s license for transporting teams to practice or competition.

Preferred Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with a master’s degree considered an advantage.
  • Experience managing social media, websites, and athletic stat software.
  • Graphic design experience is desirable.

  • A proactive, growth-oriented, hands-on mindset and a collaborative approach.
  • Creative, strategic, thoughtful, and able to bring a sense of humor to the workplace.
